FURTHER CYCLING OFFERS:

Dolomites Cycling Weeks

Pedaling on the dolomites chasing the wheels of passionate local cyclists

Description

Mark your calendars because "Dolomites Cycling Weeks" will run from 25 May to 22 June in 2014!
Ride alongside two-wheel enthusiasts on their daily training routes with groups divided into 3 levels.
We offer 4 guided outings during the week and our guides can recommend routes for the off-days based on your athletic conditioning.

At the end of the week, you’ll receive an event souvenir package and a chance to test your mettle at the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel race.

Length 7 nights

Program

Holimites cycling groups:

participants will be divided into three different groups. Depending on their level of personal athletic fitness, each day bikers can choose the group that best suits him/her for that particular outing. This means that bikers don’t have to stay with the same group for all outings.
Specifically, the groups are:

SPEED: Aimed at bikers who want to use the Dolomites as good training ground and plan on accumulating as many meters in elevation gain as
possible.
Average daily distance in this group: 80 ~ 130 km
Average cycling speed per outing, depending on route conditions: 25 ~ 28+ km/h

TOUR: Aimed at those who don’t mind stopping at the top of the passes to take a picture, enjoy the view, chat a bit with friends, and wait for latecomers. They’re only interested in average cycling speed in order to stick to the schedule and get back to the hotel for a relaxing afternoon.
Average daily distance in this group: 70 ~ 110 km
Average cycling speed per outing, depending on route conditions: 20 ~ 24+ km/h

GOURMET: Aimed at wine-and-dine cyclists who favor culinary stops over distance traveled, and at the end of the week don’t mind weighing more than when the adventure started.
Average daily distance in this group: 40 ~ 65 km
Average cycling speed per outing, depending on route conditions: 15 ~ 19+ km/h

WIN THE MARATONA DLES DOLOMITES-ENEL:

At the end of each week, all participants who have registered through a GPS device and uploaded the routes they’ve personally completed during the Cycling Weeks on STRAVA (www.strava.com) will be
eligible to win 2 reserved spots – for one man and one woman – in the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel 2014 or 2015 challenge (biker’s choice), as well as other locally-produced, fun prizes. If you don’t own a GPS unit, you can rent one for the week. The Holimites staff can provide assistance on uploading the outings on STRAVA.
Plus, if you haven’t already won a reserved spot, you can still participate for the final drawing at the end of the 4 weeks that offers 2 extra spots for the Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel 2015 race and other prizes such as Garmin GPS devices and other local products.

GRANFONDO:
The Dolomites Cycling Weeks program begins and ends on a Sunday. This gives cyclosportive enthusiasts the chance to conclude their week on the Dolomites with a Granfondo event or other cycling events in the nearby area. Here are 3 very interesting opportunities:

  • 08/06/2014 Lienz Dolomiten Radrundfahrt (Austria)
  • 15/06/2014 GF Dolomiti Sportful (Feltre)
  • 22/06/2014 Sellaronda Bikeday (Corvara)

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Unfortunately, I can’t join the tour for the full week. Can I sign up for just part of it?
Yes, definitely. Contact us directly, indicating the exact dates of arrival and departure and we’ll send you a custom-made offer.

I don’t own a GPS device but I would like to have the chance to win a registered spot for the Maratona
dles Dolomites-Enel race. What can I do?
During the reservation phase you can request to rent a GPS unit. The Holimites Staff will show you how it works and help you to upload your route data onto our partner STRAVA’s website (www.strava.com).

I already own a GPS device but I don’t know how STRAVA works. Will you help me?
Yes, definitely. The Holimites Staff will create your STRAVA registration for you or help you create it. We will also show you how to upload your route data.

Do I have to participate in all the bike outings?
No, each rider can decide for himself/herself when to take a day off to rest. What is more, Holimites can organize alternative programs, such as guided visits and trail hikes that are also ideal for accompanying non-cyclists that want to join the tour.

What if it rains?
Weather conditions are a factor beyond our control. For this reason, the week is planned with two backup days (Wednesday and Saturday) that can be used to reschedule the outings that were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
