We like to be out in nature so much
because it has no opinion about us.

Road Bike

Description

"I don't believe in Peter Pan, Frankenstein or Superman; All I wanna do is bicycle, bicycle, bicycle..." Freddie Mercury, Queen, 1978
If the Holimites had a theme song, this would be our anthem. Our team’s passion for road cycling is unrestrained, some would even say maniacal.

Alta Badia and its surrounding areas are considered a cyclist’s paradise. The Dolomite mountain passes are reels of history—scenes of legendary battles fought during the Giro d’Italia. The climbs are world famous for their stunning views, passing through many of the most beautiful summits of the UNESCO world heritage sites, setting the stage for an unforgettable bike holiday where every ride is the best ride ever.

The huge cycling enthusiasm alive in Alta Badia was the flame that sparked and nurtured one of amateur cycling’s most sought-after events on the international circuit: the Maratona dles Dolomites. We at Holimites are the official tour operator offering packages that include accommodation and guaranteed registration to the event.

Trekking

Description

The philosopher Nietzsche said: “All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking” but in the frenzy of our modern times, is this still possible?

The answer is simple: Yes, you still can... especially in places where there exists a harmony between a life lived simply and the serenity of the natural world.

Our Dolomites are, without question, one of these remaining sacred places. And the best way to fully experience their charm and wonder is to earn your views step-by-step, on a gratifying trekking trip. Trekking allows you to experience the Dolomites at 360 degrees and at your own pace, by walking trails and immersing yourself in the breathtaking scenery.

We at Holimites grew up in Alta Badia, surrounded by these views since as long as we can remember. We know our local trails like the back of our hands. This is the main reason why we want our guests to discover our home the way we always have, by foot. Customized guided or non-guided trekking tours, traveling from hut to hut, or with overnight stays in the same accommodation…whatever is your preferred style of exploration, we are here to accommodate your dream vacation.

Trail Running

Description

"Now you wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I could run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was ever going somewhere, I was running!" Forrest Gump

Trail running is more than a sport, it's a life a way of life. It transports us back to our origins; men have always run...and mountain paths are the perfect place to do so!

Trail running means floating across landscapes, enjoying the breath-taking scenery of the Dolomites free from any worldly troubles. In rhythm with the simple mountain way of life, each footfall gives you tremendous satisfaction as your efforts leave you bared open and alive, as you absorb into the scenery. But most of all, it will leave a lasting memory in the minds and hearts of those who have lived and breathed the unique Dolomite mountain air.

The Dolomites are widely regarded as a bucket list destination for trail runners. Vast and varied trail networks span and connect the wide range of these amazing mountains, creating an ideal union between nature and explorer.

Via Ferrata

Description

"Atop a mountain we feel the joy of life, the emotion to feel good and relief of forgetting earth's miseries. All of this because we are closer to heaven" Emilio Comici

To hike a Via Ferrata is without a doubt an unforgettable experience, but definitely a bit more challenging than an ordinary trek. Within the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll find a limitless supply of amazing places to hike, and the Via Ferratas (“Iron Pathways”) are a unique and classic way to experience the Italian Alps, sharing the footsteps and hand holds with history. Here you’ll enjoy an activity residing somewhere between pure rock climbing and classic mountain hiking. It is a daring but secure way to reach beautiful places and mountain peaks on routes equipped with fixed steel cables, stemples and hanging bridges. To hike via ferratas, some specific equipment is needed such as: a lanyard, harness and helmet, in addition to your normal hiking gear.

To begin, a travel back in time: The first Via Ferratas in the Dolomites date back to World War I, when soldiers from both the Austrian and Italian troops--fighting for the conquest of each peak—attached to iron cables to reach their mountain outposts and trenches quickly and safely.

Ski & Skisafari

Description

  • Skiing

"There is nothing peculiarly malignant in the appearance of a pair of ski[s]. No one, to look at them, would guess at the possibilities which lurk in them." A. Conan Doyle

The sentiment held by Sherlock Holmes’ creator at the turn of the 20th century still holds true today. Each winter as snow blankets the slopes of the Alta Badia and the Dolomites, we cannot help but agree with the author one hundred years later.

Skis become our companions in unlocking the hidden possibilities of both the mountains and ourselves – they provide an escape from our daily routines; they become a means that project us up a slope and down again, a channel to leave our worries behind and to simply enjoy the cold wind that brushes against our face, the blades that seamlessly glide across the snow at every turn and especially the feeling of freedom that only a run down a snowy slope can give.

Alta Badia is home to 53 lifts and 130 km of slopes, connecting the towns of Corvara, Colfosco, Badia, La Villa and San Cassiano, all with the same ski pass. The slopes are always perfectly groomed and the terrain is mixed for all skiing levels, from the legendary Gran Risa – for decades one of the most spectacular and challenging courses in the World Cup circuit – to the fields reserved for beginners from the various ski schools.

  • Ski Safari

A ski safari in the middle of the nature! This is the best way to discover the Dolomites in winter time, choosing your own adventure by skiing from either hut to hut or from town to town. During the day an expert guide will accompany you through spectacular views as you navigate across the majestic Dolomites.

In the evening you will relax in cozy mountain huts or enjoy local hospitality in the hotels of the villages. After this complete immersion in the Dolomites you will come back home refreshed, with the best images of our mountains filling your memory.

Explore

Description

The Cambridge Dictionary defines the word EXPLORE as „to travel to a new place to learn about it or become familiar with it; learn about“.

We particularly like this explanation and for this reason, even if the verb “explore” is not a real sport, we created this category to describe an activity that can be practiced during a holiday in the heart of the Dolomites.

We at Holimites just want to do this: we want to give our guests the opportunity to travel to a new place and to learn to love it as we locals do.

We are convinced that the most famous places of interest are definitely worth visiting. Nevertheless, we are sure that the less known places overtrump this beauty.

As locals, we will explore with you new places and show to you the most beautiful places of our childhood. Those places of the Dolomites that only the locals can introduce you.
