We like to be out in nature so much
because it has no opinion about us.

"I don't believe in Peter Pan, Frankenstein or Superman; All I wanna do is bicycle, bicycle, bicycle..." Freddie Mercury, Queen, 1978
This is one of the songs that best fits Holimites because most of our team expresses an unrestrained passion for road cycling.

Alta Badia and its surrounding area are considered a cyclist’s paradise. The Dolomite passes with legendary tracks beaten by the Giro d’Italia and climbs with stunning views of the most beautiful summits of the UNESCO world heritage site contribute to an unforgettable road bike holiday.

The huge cycling enthusiasm alive in Alta Badia was the flame that sparked and nurtured one of amateur cycling’s most sought-after events on the international circuit: the Maratona dles Dolomites where we at Holimites are the official tour operator offering packages that include accommodation and guaranteed registration to the event.

The philosopher Nietzsche said: “All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking” but in the frenzy of our times is this still possible?

The answer is: in some places you still can ... especially in those places where you live amongst breathtaking scenery and the silence of nature.

Our Dolomites are, for sure, one of these sacred places left and the best way to live them deeply is through a nice trekking trip. Trekking allows you to experience the Dolomites at 360 degrees and at your own pace through walking trails and visiting fantastic places.

We, at Holimites, grew up in Alta Badia, surrounded by such views and we know every trail in great detail. This is the main reason why we want our guests to discover them the way we know them. Customized guided or non-guided trekking tours, traveling from hut to hut, or with overnight stays in the same accommodation we can accommodate all of your wishes.

Trail Running

"Now you wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I could run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was ever going somewhere, I was running!" Forrest Gump

Trail running is more than a sport, it's a life philosophy. It's like going back to our origins; just think that men have always run...and mountain paths are perfect just for that!

Trail running means moving along them, enjoying the wonderful scenery of the Dolomites free of any negative thoughts; a unique mountain's way of life which will give you tremendous satisfaction in close contact with nature. Above all, it will leave an indelible memory in the minds of those who have lived it.

The Dolomites are considered an ideal destination for lovers of this lifestyle, an ideal union because of its wide range of trails which extend across the vast area of these amazing mountains.

"Ride to live, live to ride!"

What more perfect place than the Dolomites to take this phrase literally?...where pristine trails lead far, far away from road noise and pollution for many kilometers, amidst the Dolomites parks and our majestic mountain ranges.

Far from the noise and hassle of roads and traffic, on the road to discover the Dolomites’ spectacular trails on mountain bike. The kingdom of the Pale Mountains offers numerous single track and forest roads immersed in the nature of the natural parks of the majestic Dolomites. Trails abound for both expert mountain bikers and riders who prefer a more comfortable pace on an e-bike.

Via Ferrata

"Atop a mountain we feel the joy of life, the emotion to feel good and relief of forgetting earth's miseries. All of this because we are closer to heaven" Emilio Comici

To hike the Via Ferrata is surely a very spectacular experience, but definitely a bit more challenging than many others. Within the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll find limitless amazing places to hike such as on the Via Ferratas (Iron Path ways). Here you’ll experience an activity residing somewhere between purerock climbing and classic mountain hiking. It is in fact a way to reach beautiful places and mountain peaks on routes equipped with fixed steel cables, stemples and hanging bridges. To hike via ferratas, some specific equipment is needed such as: a lanyard, harness and helmet, in addition to your normal hiking gear.

A bit of history: The first Via Ferratas in the Dolomites date back to World War I, when soldiers from the Austrian and Italian troops, fighting for the conquest of each peak, used them to reach their positions and trenches quickly.

"There is nothing peculiarly malignant in the appearance of a pair of ski[s]. No one, to look at them, would guess at the possibilities which lurk in them." A. Conan Doyle

Such was the impression by Sherlock Holmes’ creator at the turn of the 20th century. As passionate enthusiasts of the snow that each winter covers the slopes of the Alta Badia and the Dolomites, we cannot but agree with the author one hundred years later.

Skis truly do conceal hidden possibilities – they provide an outlet to escape from our daily routines; they become a means that project us up a slope and down again, a channel to leave our worries behind and to simply enjoy the cold wind that brushes against our face, the blades that seamlessly glide across the snow at every turn and especially the feeling of freedom that only a run down a snowy slope can give.

Skiing in Alta Badia requires only a single ski pass to access its 53 lifts and 130 km of slopes of Corvara, Colfosco, Badia, La Villa and San Cassiano. The slopes are always perfectly groomed for all skiing levels, from the legendary Gran Risa – for decades one of the most spectacular and challenging courses in the World Cup circuit – to the fields reserved for beginners from the various ski schools.

A ski safari in the middle of the nature! From hut to hut or from town to town. This is the best way to discover the Dolomites in winter time. During the day an expert guide will ski with you through spectacular views.

In the evening you will relax in cozy mountain huts or you will enjoy the friendliness in the hotels of the village. After this immersion in the Dolomites you will arrive back home refreshed with the best images of our mountains in your memory.
